"I was made many offers for Hindi films after the success of Jatt & Juliet," says Punjabi singer-turned-actor Diljit Dosanjh who starred opposite Neeru Bajwa in this immensely successful romcom. However, Diljit says he smelt a marketing rat in these offers more than an attempt to cast him in a meaningful role. "The offers came from good and reputed production houses but somehow they all wanted me as a side friend of the lead hero and had nothing substantial for me to showcase my acting abilities," he says.

Though this hardly disappoints Diljit who wasn't looking out for Hindi films in the first place and it was they who happened to approach him, he was reluctant because the offers were in the interest of the film's marketing. "It seemed to me that these roles were propositioned to tap the North Indian market after Jatt & Juliet became a hit. I was told, 'Chalo, North India ko toh aap sambhal logey aur baki regions ko humara hero sambhal lega'."
While he says he doesn't mind playing a character other than the lead in a film, what made him hesitant was the nature of the roles per se. "I was to be cast as a mute showpiece. If my friends back home got to know I've accepted a mute role, they'd anyways kill me!" laughs Diljit who is in Canada currently to shoot for the sequel to Jatt & Juliet, titled Jatt & Juliet 2.
